The Process

By the end of my 11-week project, I had supplies distribution and card collection down to a science.

The process began with contacting my volunteers to pitch the idea and gain consent.

Next, my dad drove me to each of my friends’ homes to drop off envelopes with supplies (construction paper/ cardstock & crayons/colored pencils/markers).

7 - 10 days later, me & Dad picked up completed cards from the doorsteps of each family.

Once at home, I checked each and every card to make sure they were “appropriate” for the cause. In addition, I made sure all collected cards were stored in sealed plastic bags for 3-5 days before being distributed to hospitals (coronavirus precaution).

Twice a week, I separated patient cards from frontline worker cards.  I communicated regularly with hospital Command Center personnel via texts, phone calls, and emails.

Finally,  I hand delivered batches of cards right to each hospital’s front door.
